What Photographers Should Not Do When Taking Newborn Baby Photos

Two months ago a friend of mine had a baby girl. This is my friend's 3rd child so she is not a new mother. She has so many pictures of her first 2 children she doesn't know what to do with them all. There are pictures on the fridge, on walls, bulletin boards, in the hallway, on keychains, magnets, etc, etc. So when the new baby was born, of course she made an appointment to get her picture taken. Being an old pro at this herself, my friend knew the right and wrong thing to do when taking a baby's picture. The photographer (who it happened, was not a mother) did not know much about babies. She tried propping this infant up against all sorts of things to make her look like she was sitting. Then when the baby started to fuss, the photographer actually stuck her fingers in the baby's mouth, not once or twice but three or four times, even after she heard protests from the mother. Needless to say, you don't do this when taking newborn baby photos. Let's hope she learned after my friend complained to her boss.
